Being stranded or having a stopover at Singapore’s international airport is not something that many people would be bothered about. As they say, Changi International Airport is a destination in itself and a few hours to spare is probably not enough to enjoy everything that the airport has to offer. Try picturing this out: starting your day at the airport with a quick workout in the gym facility and then freshening up by taking a quick dip in the pool’s airport. If you are in for a bit of relaxation, you can enjoy a massage treatment in the spa. Then for a little sightseeing, you can visit the butterfly garden or the other gardens that you can find in this bustling airport.

It is this airport that virtually started the concept of having an airport that is a destination itself. Even though Singapore is a small city-state that only has around five million residents, it has managed to build a reputation for itself as an important transit link to Europe, Australia and Asia.

The airport itself has three terminals and a budget terminal as well. It offers amenities to its passing travelers that other airports have yet to think of. Here are some of the things that you need to know about the airport and the things you can do while there:

Changi Airport is only eleven miles away from the center of the city. There are many ways that one can go to and from the airport. These options include: shuttle buses, MRT, car rentals and taxis. For the latter option, you can reach most areas of the city for less than $20 USD.

There are a lot of hotels in and around the airport. The Crowne Plaza can be found in Terminal 3. Changi Airport is one of the few airports that offer transit hotels and full hotels without going past the immigration counter. Yes, you got that right. If you go past it to retrieve your luggage then you won’t be able to stay in these hotels any longer. Each of the airport terminals has a transit hotel but if you want to access the rooftop pool, visit the transit hotel in Terminal 1.But if you do not want to pay for hotels, there are napping areas in the airport too. The napping areas are equipped with lounge chairs that has alarms that vibrate to help ensure that you can wake up prior to your flight.

You can also find massage and shower facilities in the transit lounges in the terminals. You can even get a free fifteen-minute foot massage. You can also find the usual boutiques that are duty-free and other shopping choices. Among other things, you can find drug stores, a salon and changing rooms that parents with infants can use. There are many food choices in the airport too. If you want to experience an authentic Singaporean meal then go for the food gallery in Terminal Three which is open twenty-four hours a day. Visitors can also enjoy the free Playstation and Xbox consoles in the 3rd level of Terminal 2. You can also find a movie theater there.
