Amsterdam is one of the busiest international airport hubs in the world and it handles a lot of transfer passengers on a daily basis. If you happen to have a layover in Schiphol, you do not need to worry because there are so many things that you can do here. You will find a list of things that you can do during your layover at the Schiphol International Airport that is less than four hours.

  • Take a rest at one of the easy chairs. Most of these easy chairs can be found at the upper level of the terminal.

      • If you have brought your mobile device or laptop with you, you can browse the internet using the free WiFi that you can find at the airport. There used to be a one hour limit to the WiFi usage but now you can use it for as long as you want, or even spend time taking pictures for your photography website if you have that as a hobby!
      • You can also take a shower at either the Yotel or Mercure Hotel for a certain fee. But if you want to shower for free, you can do it at the public toilets that you can find near the lounges or meditation rooms. You have to bring your own towel and soap though.
      • If you want to have a little more insight on how the airport runs, then take a tour of the Schiphol airport but you’ll be seeing the way things work behind the scenes. All you need is an extra hour to spare since the tour lasts for an hour.
  • If you want to catch up on sleep, you can book a room in either Mercure or Yotel which can be found in the airport’s terminal. For Yotel, the minimum stay is four hours.
  • Want to enjoy looking at planes as they takeoff and land? Head to the Panorama Terrace to enjoy this view then.
  • Visit the Rijksmuseum in Schiphol which is located at the Holland Boulevard. Be reminded though that this will be closed until summer of 2016 because of an airport renovation.

      • If you have an access card, visit one of the airport lounges in Schiphol to just sit back and relax.
      • If you need to have a little quiet time, head up to the meditation center that is located at the upper level of the airport.
      • Try your luck at the Holland Casino which is located between Pier E and Pier F.
      • Relax your body and mind with a massage from Xpress Spa or Rituals Spa.
      • If you happen to be a health bum who does not want to miss a day of working out at the gym, do not worry because you can get a day pass for the Sheraton Hotel Fitness and Spa.

    • And the Schiphol Airport would not be complete without the shopping stores either. So why not take a look at the different stores that are there and see if you can find anything to your fancy? You can also find a supermarket at Schiphol.
    • There is a wide range of food choices at Schiphol as well.
